Hartford Courant - Eric Mangini shares his knowledge at camp for area youth football players

“Eric Mangini returned to his alma mater Saturday to hold his annual football fundamentals camp for about 500 area youth players at Bulkeley High School.

Mangini, a 1989 Bulkeley graduate who went on to coach the Jets and Browns, has run the camp every year since 2002, when he was a rising assistant coach with the Patriots under Bill Belichick.

The camp, which benefits the Carmine and Frank Mangini Foundation, is for players grades 8-12. The $65 player fee is often waived for those in need. Through donations and sponsorships, the event has raised about $300,000 for scholarships, grants and capital improvement projects in Hartford.

Mangini, 48, who lives in the Cleveland area with his wife and three sons — all three were camp participants Saturday — drove to Connecticut for the event. He has spent recent years as a TV analyst and last worked in the NFL as the 49ers defensive coordinator in 2015….”
